Deadline: 29 February 2024
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is seeking applications to boost content production and distribution of information to build awareness about renewable energy in India to improve public awareness about the RE rollout and the obstacles to be overcome in this journey.
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is looking to provide fellowships for in-depth content on RE (solar, wind, biofuels, green hydrogen and others). EJN will support the production of in-depth content on the subject, with the aim of improving access to quality information and raising awareness among policymakers, project developers, investors and observers.
Themes
- They are seeking proposals that could focus on, but are not limited to, the following issues:
- How state and national leaders aim to achieve ambitious climate action, while ensuring all citizens are brought along in a just transition; where and how RE and/or energy security features in the election campaign; policies that address clean energy production – and its impact on air quality and poverty reduction – at central and state levels; energy storage, grid expansion and modernization to address transmission and distribution of electricity; and financing of RE projects.
- Proposals that focus on topics that have not been widely covered are preferred. Issues that have already received a lot of coverage or don’t provide unique angles to challenges are less likely to be selected.
Funding Information
- EJN will provide support, by way of remuneration, of approximately Rs 90,000 to each selected applicant, depending on the proposal and method of coverage, with some flexibility for in-depth and data-driven content using innovative and investigative approaches that may be more costly to produce.
- All applicants are required to provide a detailed budget with justification for the amount requested using the template provided. They ask that the budgets be reasonable and account for costs necessary for reporting, such as travel and accommodation.
Eligibility Criteria
- Proposals from all states in India are eligible, but proposals that shed light on the RE situation in Bihar, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh will be prioritized.
- Groups of content producers are eligible. However, the application must be made in the name of one lead applicant. Lead applicants are responsible for communicating with EJN and receiving funds as remuneration on the group’s behalf, if awarded.
- For the purposes of this opportunity, They will accept applications in English, Hindi, Marathi and Tamil.
- Applications are open to India-based content producers (online, print, television, radio) and other experts with a demonstrated interest in covering the RE sector. They will give preference to those who regularly cover economy, business and energy beats. In an effort to ensure equal opportunities and diversity of voices, They especially encourage applications from women, youth, and members of Indigenous communities.
- They are seeking applications from freelancers and staff from all types of outlets – international, national, local and community-based.
- EJN reserves the right to disqualify applicants from consideration if they have been found to have engaged in unethical or improper professional conduct.
Languages
- Content can be produced in English or local languages, or both. They encourage applications in local languages and reporting for local media outlets. However, for wider dissemination, an English translation should be provided.
