Deadline: 6 September 2024
Are you passionate about climate change and eager to make a difference? Do you dream of being at the forefront of reporting on global environmental negotiations? Climate Tracker is searching for exceptional journalists from the Caribbean region to join our overall international COP29 reporting team.
Climate Tracker (CT) is an international non-profit organization, aiming to support, train and incentivize better climate journalism globally. They believe in the power of journalism but recognized that many young journalists don’t have the training, resources or support to identify and tell the climate stories they want to. They also recognized that this challenge is often greatest in the countries hardest hit by climate change. To address this, they:
- Provide training and fellowships for young journalists around the world to tell better climate stories locally.
- Conduct action-oriented media research to better understand the biggest challenges, trends, and obstacles to powerful climate reporting around the world.
- Fund young journalists to report on the world’s most pressing issues and cover the world’s biggest moments, UN negotiations and conferences.
- Support global collaboration.
What’s in it for you?
- Their in-person Fellows will attend the COP29 conference in the city of Baku, gaining firsthand experience and witnessing history unfold before their eyes. They will also be part of an intensive pre-COP training programme and receive support to publish their stories.
- Their online Fellows will be part of an intensive pre-COP training programme and receive support to publish their stories.
- Expert Training as a Climate Tracker Fellow (applies to both in-person and online), you’ll receive exclusive training from seasoned climate journalists and industry experts. This comprehensive programme will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the often complex world of climate negotiations and effectively communicate the urgency of the Caribbean’s climate challenges.
- Networking Opportunities Immerse yourself in a vibrant network of climate advocates, fellow journalists, and policy influencers from around the globe. Connect with like-minded individuals, build lasting relationships, and expand your professional horizons. This is your chance to create connections that will propel your career in climate journalism forward.
- Stipend Support they believe in the value of your work and its impact on the world. That’s why they provide a stipend to their COP29 fellows to support their reporting efforts.
