The National Press Club Journalism Institute is pleased to announce the Dennis and Shirley Feldman Fellowship to recognize a student pursuing graduate studies in journalism with a one-time stipend to help defray tuition costs.
Funding Information
- One-time stipend of $5,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, applicants must:
- be enrolled in, or in the process of applying for, admission to an accredited graduate program in journalism in the U.S.
- plan to pursue a career in journalism
- be a U.S. citizen
- Applicants are not required to have published journalism work samples but should be prepared to demonstrate strong writing skills and commitment to the field.
Criteria
- A complete application consists of:
- A short elevator pitch: Why are you interested in journalism, and how have you pursued it so far? (no more than 150 words)
- Your most recent college transcript (PDF)
- A 500-word essay on what you intend to do with your journalism graduate studies (PDF)
- Your resume (PDF)
- A brief description of your financial need
- Up to five work samples demonstrating your ongoing experience and/or interest in journalism
- Three letters of recommendation from teachers or professors, employers, leaders of the various groups you are involved with, or other people who are most familiar with your work and work ethic.
