The KSUT Tribal Radio is seeking applications for the Native Lens Media Fellowship, a unique opportunity for young Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian filmmakers to gain hands-on experience in filmmaking and storytelling.
Launched in 2020 by KSUT Tribal Radio and Rocky Mountain PBS, Native Lens is a collaborative film and video project that showcases the work of Indigenous filmmakers while amplifying Indigenous voices through storytelling.
The Native Lens Media Fellowship is an invaluable opportunity to develop your filmmaking skills, connect with other Indigenous creatives, and contribute to the growing movement of Indigenous storytelling.
The fellowship provides a comprehensive immersion into the world of filmmaking, guiding participants through every stage of the production process, from story development to post-production. Under the mentorship of experienced Native filmmakers, fellows will gain valuable skills in videography, editing, and narrative storytelling, enabling them to create their own short films that will premiere at the Durango Independent Film Festival.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must identify as American Indian, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian.
- Age range: 18 – 24 years old.
- No previous experience is necessary.
- Previous media experience is not required to participate in the fellowship.
Program Schedule
- Virtual workshops: January 2024
- In-person intensive: February 25 – March 2, 2024 (Durango, Colorado)
- Film premiere: Durango Independent Film Festival, March 2, 2024
