EurekAlert is now accepting applications for the International Science Reporters Fellowship to provide early-career science, technology, environment, and health journalist’s opportunities to cover the latest research and network with peers from around the world at the AAAS Annual Meeting.
The EurekAlert! Fellowships for International Science Reporters support excellence in science journalism globally, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries.
Two fellows will be selected to receive travel funding from EurekAlert! to attend the 2024 AAAS Annual Meeting, taking place February 15-17, 2024 in Denver, Colorado.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must fulfill this criteria in order to be eligible to receive the fellowship:
- No more than five (5) years of experience as a professional science reporter or freelancer.
- Based in the following countries: Argentina; Belize; Bolivia; Brazil; Chile; Colombia; Costa Rica; Ecuador; El Salvador; Guatemala; Guyana; Honduras; Mexico; Nicaragua; Panama; Paraguay; Peru; Suriname; Uruguay.
- Be able to travel to a future AAAS Annual Meeting within the next two (2) years.
Requirements
- Applications must include all of the following to be considered complete
- Proof of employment and length of service with an accredited news media outlet (What is an accredited news media outlet?)
- Three (3) original, bylined science reporting work samples published between January 1, 2022, to present
- Brief essay (in your preferred language).
