Are you a full-time employee of a reputable media organisation in Nigeria or Ghana with expertise in procurement data and reporting? If so, here’s an exciting opportunity for you: the 2024 UDEME Social Accountability Reporting Fellowship is now open for applications.
The 2024 UDEME Social Accountability Reporting Fellowship aims to build the capacity of journalists in Nigeria and Ghana to identify red flags in budget line items and unique patterns in contract awards that violate local procurement laws. This year’s focus will be on agriculture, health, education and public infrastructure, emphassing gender inclusion.
About FellowshipÂ
- Duration: 6 months. There will be monthly check-ins within the fellowship period
- Publication: Fellows will ensure reports are published with their media institutions and jointly published with Premium Times
- Story Grant: Fellows will receive story grants to pursue story ideas within the period of the fellowship
- Impact: Post fellowship, fellows will continue to track the impact of their stories and report to UDEME
- Commencement of Fellowship: March, 2024
- End of Fellowship: August, 2024

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be full-time employees of a reputable media organization in Nigeria and Ghana
- Applicants must have a working knowledge of gathering and interpreting data relating to public procurement
- If selected, applicants must secure a commitment from the publisher to participate in the fellowship and prompt publication of reports
- Female journalists and journalists with disabilities (PWDs) are strongly encouraged to apply.
