The Netherlands Film Fund is accepting applications for the Realization of Minority Co-Production feature film, feature-length animated film and documentary.
A minority co-production must be of exceptional artistic and substantive quality within the total range of international co-productions, including a demonstrable substantial creative and technical contribution from film professionals from the Netherlands.
Funding Information
- Films with a budget of up to 3 million: maximum € 250,000
- Films with a budget higher than 3 million: maximum € 450,000
- Documentary: Maximum €70,000
Who is eligible?
- A production company (a legal entity, i.e. not a sole proprietorship or partnership) that has been established in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a member state of the EU, EEA or Switzerland for at least two years and produces and exploits films and other audiovisual productions on a continuous basis.
- The production company is represented by the Dutch minority co-producer. Previously, as a major producer, he/she was primarily responsible for realizing:
- at least one feature film with a cinema release in the Netherlands (application feature film/long animated film); or
- at least one (long) documentary with a cinema release in the Netherlands (documentary application).
Conditions
- To be eligible for a contribution, the film production within the total range of international co-productions must be of exceptional artistic and substantive quality and be linked to a substantial creative and technical contribution from film professionals from the Netherlands.
- All applications must demonstrate that:
- 50% of the financing from the main producer’s country of residence has been confirmed;
- The total contribution of Dutch funds and market parties to the realization of the film production must amount to at least 10% of the total production costs;
- The national cinema release must be guaranteed in the country of the majoritarian co-producer by a film distributor or market parties from the local exploitation chain.
- The following specific conditions are also imposed on an application/possible grant award:
- The applicant must have the exclusive filming and exploitation rights of the film production for preferably the Benelux and, if the rights for Belgium and Luxembourg have already been granted, at least these rights in the Dutch territory.
- The film production must have a (non-)theatrical release in the Netherlands. For the categories of feature film, feature-length animated film and documentary.
- Any financial contributions in the context of Eurimages and/or other European funding must be allocated to the applicant pro rata.
