Goethe-Institut is currently accepting applications for the Afghanistan Cultural Fund that supports projects by artists and cultural practitioners from Afghanistan.
They see artists not only as agents of tradition but also as agents of change, promoting social unity and progress. In storytelling, they back initiatives such as poetry, literature, translations, theatre performances, short documentaries, photography, and live performances.
Funding Information
- The total budget for the two calls is €250,000, with a maximum grant of €10,000 per call.
Funding Criteria
- Being of Afghan descent and of legal age
- Quality of the project proposal and idea
- Relevance of the projects to Afghan culture and art
- Balanced project partnership and artistic collaboration
- Feasibility of the project
- Innovative design and originality
- Project duration should not exceed five months
Whom they fund?
- Commercial projects and ongoing operational costs are not eligible for funding. Funding for projects in North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Syria, Venezuela, and the occupied regions of Ukraine is not possible. Additionally, projects involving individuals subject to U.S. sanctions are also excluded from funding.
- They offer funding for Afghan artists, ensembles, organisations, and initiatives within the diaspora and exile communities.
- This support is aimed at Afghan artists who are at least 18 years old. Newcomers are also encouraged to apply.
- This funding allows them to undertake projects both inside and outside of Afghanistan. Both individuals and groups are eligible, with a special emphasis on female artists.
