Deadline: 30 August 2024
Submissions are now open for the AFLAMUNA Impact Fund to support Impact Campaigns centered around groundbreaking Arab films that tackle the most pressing social, political, and environmental issues of the time, ensuring they reach their rightful audience and spark meaningful change.
Launched in 2022, the fund has already supported 12 films and their impact campaigns, making waves across the region.
Funding Information
- The AFLAMUNA Impact Fund can support any activities related to that campaign, including fees/salaries for the Impact Producer and/or the team working on the campaign. The idea is to provide seed funding for the campaign launch to enable the film teams to mobilize further partnerships and funding. The fund cannot support the film’s production or post-production costs or classical distribution activities.
- Each selected project will receive a grant between 5,000 and 15,000 USD, in addition to mentorship and support from AFLAMUNA’S team.
What is an Impact Campaign?
- An Impact Campaign is an action plan a film team puts in place to ensure that their film spurs change on an issue – where they are deliberate about who needs to see a film, what audiences need to do, and what partnerships, tools, and resources are needed to reach the desired goals of the campaign.
- This covers a wide range of activities, from getting your film in front of decision-makers who can influence private and public policy to developing plans with NGO partners so they can use it to mobilize supporters and reach new communities or to developing a curriculum guide to help educators use it in the classroom. These are only a few examples, among many others.
- This work can be short-term — just a few months — or turn into a year-long or multi-year-long campaign. An Impact Campaign’s goals can be dialogue-based or outcome-driven, ambitious or narrowly focused, subtle or backed by metrics, local, national, regional, or even international in scope. In the part of the world, where funding and distribution opportunities are limited, Impact Campaigns can unlock vital resources for films that would otherwise be limited to festivals and foreign distribution.
