The Independence Public Media Foundation (IPMF) is pleased to announce the Local Filmmaker Fund to support filmmakers across the Greater Philadelphia region with the development of their films and gaining skills to further hone their craft.
The Fund, in addition to a grant, includes a 12-month cohort that aims to serve as an incubator for local filmmakers to work on their films while gaining industry knowledge (i.e. via capacity-building workshops, skill-sharing) and building their network.
Funding Information
- Finishing funds tend to range from $2,000 to $16,000. The 2024 finishing fund budget is $100,000, as a result grants may vary based on volume of requests.
Benefit
- Filmmaker grantees will have the option of screening their film at IPMF’s annual Fall Film Screening—a great opportunity for projects to gain public interest and following.
Eligibility Criteria
- The funding focuses on projects based in the Greater Philadelphia region. Projects must be based in:
- Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania.
- Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties in New Jersey.
- New Castle County, Delaware.
- They also prioritize organizations and projects that meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Led by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, women, people who are LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, and people directly impacted by mass incarceration.
- Serve communities that are directly impacted by systemic racism and other forms of oppression.
- Directly address systemic inequality.
- Feature collaboration between multiple partners.
Ineligible
- IPMF does not make grants for:
- Projects not based in the Philadelphia-region.
- Arts and culture organizations or projects without a focus on BIPOC community storytelling, narrative shift for movement building, or internet for all.
- Marketing campaigns (e.g., public health campaigns for a specific health program).
- Individuals without a fiscal sponsor.
