DocA – Documentary Africa is thrilled to announce the launch of the Shoot Your Short grant, aimed at empowering emerging African producers and filmmakers to bring their short documentary film visions to life.
The Shoot Your Short grant program is open to documentary producers of African nationality residing on the continent.
Following an Open Call for Applications they provide financial support for Development, Production, Postproduction and Impact Production of Documentary films to filmmakers and producers from the African continent. They also provide project support to documentary organisations working within the continent to develop, execute, monitor, and evaluate projects which may include: Trainings (workshops, residencies, labs), Mentorships, Festivals, and Film markets.
Funding Information
- Each selected project will receive funding of up to $5,000 to cover production costs, including pre-production planning, filming expenses, and post-production. In addition to financial support, grant recipients will have access to resources and guidance to enhance their filmmaking skills and bring their creative visions to fruition.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be considered for the Shoot Your Short grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- African nationality and residing on the African continent.
- Previous completion of at least one film project.
- Commitment to completing the short film within one year from receiving the grant.
- Short films should have a duration of less than 20 minutes.
