Deadline: 28 November 2024
The Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation is seeking applications to support the creation of catalogues raisonnés of artists.
The focus of the program is in particular on East German art heritage, the legacy of GDR art and the art history of the post-war period in Saxony-Anhalt up to the present day.
The new funding program is not only intended to make the artistic heritage of the state of Saxony-Anhalt comprehensively visible, but also to encourage contemporary artists to systematically record artistic works of all genres, to prepare them for publication and digital use, and to make them available to a broad public.
Funding Information
- The artists can receive fixed-amount funding of up to a maximum of 30,000 euros per catalogue raisonné.
Eligible Projects
- Projects of high artistic quality are eligible for funding:
- With supra-regional or international visibility and corresponding cooperation.
- With original, unusual approaches or forms of expression, innovative arrangements or with an experimental character.
- With a topic of public interest or reference to issues or conflict situations that stimulate debate and have a lasting impact.
- Aimed at children and young people to encourage them to engage with art and culture and to refine their aesthetic sensibilities.
- With project goals that cross disciplines, genres or sectors.
Eligibility Criteria
- All artists who generally live in Saxony-Anhalt can apply for a grant. The program is aimed at artists who were born in Saxony-Anhalt, work here, work or have worked in the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
- Artists who belong to the post-war generation, were born in 1945 or later and have been working professionally as artists for at least 25 years can apply. In addition to these requirements, proof of artistic activity, exhibitions, catalogues, publications and/or a degree from an art college must be provided. The artists must have a recognizable connection to the federal state and this must be reflected personally and/or professionally in the documents submitted. Multiple applications are possible after funding has been rejected.
Application Requirements
- The catalogue raisonné must be prepared in such a way that a presentable end result is obtained. This result consists of two parts:
- A common, digital storage medium (e.g. USB stick) on which the completed catalogue raisonné is stored and digitally accessible. The digital recording must be carried out on the basis of the digital form provided by the art foundation. This digital recording forms the basis for a subsequent digital publication of the results in order to create public visibility for the catalogue raisonnés.
- A printed catalogue that publishes the catalogue raisonné and is then given to libraries for safekeeping. Ten of these copies must be handed over to the art foundation.
