Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation Work Grants (Germany)

Originality, quality and feasibility of the artistic project are required. The awarding of work grants is intended in particular to enable concentrated work on a new project.

Focus Areas

• to encourage innovative approaches in the country’s art scene
• to promote outstanding art projects
• to initiate own projects that are particularly suitable for promoting art creation in to present Saxony-Anhalt to the public to formulate medium to long-term priorities or programs.

Funding Information

• The scholarship amount is 1,500 euros per month. The funding usually lasts for 3 or 6 months.

Eligible Projects

• Projects of high artistic quality are eligible for funding.
  • with supra-regional or international visibility and corresponding cooperation.
  • with original, unusual approaches or forms of expression, innovative arrangements or with experimental character
  • with a topic of public interest or with reference to issues or conflict situations that encourage debate and have a lasting impact aimed at children and young people in order to encourage them to engage with art and culture or to refine their aesthetic sensibilities
  • with project goals that cross disciplines, genres or sectors.

Eligibility Criteria

• Freelance artists who are self-employed as their main occupation and who generally have their main residence in Saxony-Anhalt are eligible to apply.
• The foundation supports artistic projects in the fields of fine and applied arts, performing arts, literature, music, film (only script and project development), design, architecture and media art, as well as interdisciplinary projects. Originality, quality and feasibility of the artistic project are required.
• Grants are only awarded to individual artists.

Ineligibility Criteria

• Pupils, students and people in training are not eligible to apply.
