The Tan Ean Kiam Foundation-SGIFF Southeast Asian Documentary (SEA-DOC) Grant supports the production and post-production of documentaries in Southeast Asia which tell engaging, urgent stories.
Funding Information
- The grant supports four production projects annually with production projects each receiving S$30,000 in cash, and post-production projects receiving S$20,000 in cash.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must fulfil all of the following criteria:
- Be a producer and/or director of the film.
- Director of the film must be a Southeast Asian citizen
- Director of the film must have completed a previous short film
- Film must meet one of the following criteria:
- Shot in Southeast Asia. Southeast Asia will be defined as Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam or;
- The majority of the key cast and creative crew are of Southeast Asian descent or citizens
- Film must meet all of the following criteria:
- Over 60 minutes
- Include English subtitles
- All applications must be done in English.
- Films are expected to be completed within 3 years.
Terms and Conditions
- For Production Projects- Grants will be disbursed in 2 parts – SG$15,000 upon submission of most updated treatment and production schedule; SG$15,000 upon submission of completed film (ProRes 422 HQ and h.264).
- For Post- Production Projects- Grants will be disbursed in 2 parts – SG$10,000 upon submission of updated production schedule and latest cut; SG$10,000 upon submission of completed film (ProRes 422 HQ and h.264).
- If recipients are unable to complete principal photography within 2 years of signing the agreement, the agreement will be terminated and no pending instalments on the funding will be paid. SGIFF reserves the right to find a replacement project from the applications submitted.
- SGIFF to have at least the Asian premiere of the completed documentary film.
