The Social Documentary Photography Grant 2023 is now open for applications to tackle a range of social issues.
The Photography Foundation Grant is delivered in partnership with The Photography Foundation and LIMI London charity providing £2,500 towards the production of a social documentary photo essay.
The Photography Foundation Grant is for a maximum 12-month period and can be used towards any combination of travel, equipment or living expenses while completing the project.
The Photography Foundation Grant winners have their final project printed and exhibited (in partnership with Rapid Eye and the Photo Book Cafe), have their work showcased on the grant partners websites & social media channels and they will be working with strategic partners to publish the completed photographic essay. Additionally, the grant winners are allocated an evening with The Photography Foundation to give a presentation about their completed project.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications for the Grant are free and is open to professional, semi-professional or amateur photographers from any age range and background.
- The Grant is a UK based grant and as such must have a UK focus.
- They will consider applications for new projects or the completion of ongoing projects only. Support for ongoing projects that cannot be completed within the 12 months will not be considered.
- This grant is up to 12 months’ social documentary photography grant for the production of a photographic essay. Your project must take between 1 to 12 months to complete.
- Your project should be focused on tackling a single or mix of social issues in the UK. Please use your project statement to fully detail the social cause/issue that the project is focused on. They take a broad view on the definition of ‘social issue’ and welcome applications from a wide range of potential projects.
- The grant can be used towards any combination of travel, equipment and living expenses while completing the project. Please use your project statement to highlight how the grant money will be used.
