The Refugee Journalism Project is delighted to announce a new opportunity for displaced film, games or television professionals: the RJP Film, Games & Television Bursary in collaboration with independent arts charity BAFTA.
The Refugee Journalism Project is looking for UK-based practitioners with a refugee background who have a specific project or career development opportunity they wish to pursue in 2024.
The aim of the bursary is to support those in genuine financial need to help alleviate some of the barriers they experience so they can stand a greater chance of continuing their work in the UK.
Award Information
- They will be awarding bursaries of up to ÂŁ2,000 to individuals or groups whose work will be most impacted by the support, and who fulfil the eligibility criteria.
Eligible Expenses
- The bursary recipient will be able to spend the money on:
- Technical equipment and software
- Counselling/trauma recovery sessions
- Continuing professional development (CPD) through courses/workshops
- Relocation for work expenses and travel costs for work related activities
- Professional mentoring
- Temporary accommodation to support work or training, or networking events
Eligibility Criteria
- Have legal refugee or humanitarian protection status (this includes those in the UK under the Ukrainian refugee sponsorship scheme or Afghan citizens’ resettlement scheme).
- Have a qualification in a media-related field, or at least two years’ worth of experience in a relevant industry (Film, Games or Television).
- Be based in the UK and over 21.
- Have a UK bank account
- Not be an existing recipient of a Prince William BAFTA Bursary
- Bursary recipients must not spend the money to fund unpaid work placements.
