The International Journalists Programs (IJP) is inviting applications for the German-Japanese scholarship program for the second time.
A total of five journalists from Germany and five from Japan will have the opportunity to take part in the two-month stay abroad.
Objective
- The IJP, a non-profit association, has been offering scholarship programs for freelance and permanent journalists of all media types for over 40 years. These exchange programs enable you to get to know a country intensively as a temporary correspondent on a bilateral basis.
- With the help of this program, journalists should get a personal impression of politics, economics, culture and everyday social life in the host country.
- The various IJP scholarship programs are supported by donations, funding from the Federal Foreign Office and private sponsors.
Scholarship
- The scholarship holders of the program receive a one-off payment of 4,000 euros from the IJP. This amount is intended to cover travel costs, food and accommodation as well as health insurance. There is no provision for remuneration for work on site.
Eligibility Criteria
- Japanese and German journalists aged 25 to 45 who regularly work as freelancers, trainees or editors for German or Asian newspapers, radio stations, TV stations or online editorial teams are eligible to apply. Very good knowledge of English is expected. Knowledge of an Asian language is not mandatory.
- Knowledge of the national language is not a requirement, but it does increase the success of your stay in Japan.
- Working knowledge of English is always expected. The local alumni network can provide some support with translations participate.
