The DJV Bremen is offering the Marie Mindermann Scholarship to support professional or former professional journalists who have had to leave their home country.
The DJV Bremen regional association would like to give journalists living in exile the opportunity to independently realize a journalistic project of their choice.
The basis for this is the 2022 annual report from “Reporters Without Borders”. Gender-related persecution should be given priority.

- DJV Bremen is offering Scholarship of 5,000 euros.
Duration
- This is initially designed as a project grant for a period of 12 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- The scholarship is open to colleagues of all gender orientations.
- Journalists and publicists from Central and Eastern Europe as well as refugees from countries with a lack of press freedom are expressly addressed.
Criteria
- The documents will only be accepted as PDFs.
- An independent jury decides on the award of the project scholarship in a selection process. Legal recourse is excluded.
- The prize money is paid out in twelve monthly installments (11 x 400 euros, 1 x 600 euros).
- During the implementation of the project, the winner will be accompanied by DJV Bremen. The results of the work will be presented at a public event in December 2024.
