Talent Exchange Scholarship Program: New Documentary Writings

Deadline: 9 June 2024

The Talent Exchange is interested in new documentary writing implemented by young photographers to continue to tell the story of the world while integrating new forms and modalities of mediation.

At a time when the press image tends to be projected on screen rather than printed on glossy paper, when emerging companies largely combine their projects in a plurality of mediums and writings, the Talent Exchange continues to be an echo for all these new documentary expressions.

Since 1998, the Talent Exchange has rewarded the talent of young creators in the fields of photography by supporting emerging photography each year. This event, organized by Photographie.com and Picto Foundation, has become over the years an essential event dedicated to the recognition of emerging artists. It acts as a springboard towards professionalization and the market for these emerging talents.

Each year two to three Talent Grants will now be awarded to photographers whose projects are deployed around innovative documentary strategies, whether an approach flirting with the visual artist, science, literature or any other other transversality put at the service of the story, or even new technologies to support narrative expression. The Talent Exchange is open to photographers of all nationalities, attentive to all subjects and all expressions and encourages committed approaches and eco-responsible practices.

The National Library of France will exhibit the photographs taken by the two young photographers who won the Talent Exchange as part of the annual exhibition “Photography at Any Price”. This exhibition of the work of the winners produced by the PICTO laboratories allows, each year, to discover these new lines of force in contemporary photography. The Bnf’s commitment to the Talent Exchange also gives the opportunity to winning photographers and their remarkable documentary approaches to enrich the collections of the Prints and Photography department of the National Library of France.
