Are you a journalist? Your voice and your histories are essential to building a more sustainable future. Join the 8th Climatic Mentorship Cycle and get the tools to cover the transformation towards an energy matrix.
This cycle is designed to welcome 11 journalists from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico and Venezuela.
The selected individuals will have the opportunity to acquire tools and economic incentives to tell meaningful stories about the impact of climate change in their region, focusing especially on the transition to renewable energy.
Focus Areas
- The focus of this cycle is to train participants in covering key aspects such as:
- Infrastructure for transmission lines.
- Energy storage.
- Obtaining a social license for energy projects.
Funding Information
- In this cycle, you will receive a set of benefits designed to enhance your journalistic career:
- Total financial incentive of $900: Earn $300 for each story published, providing you with direct support as you develop your talent.
- Specialized training: You will participate in 6 training sessions on climate journalism and energy transition, taught by experts in the field.
- Personalized editorial support: You will have the guidance of mentors who will help you perfect your reports and strengthen your narrative proposal.
- Networking opportunities: You will expand your network of contacts within the journalistic field and you will be able to make your work visible in regional media.
Eligibility Criteria
- This program is aimed at media journalists and freelancers who have:
- At least one year of experience in journalism.
- A demonstrated interest in environmental and climate issues.
- A compelling story proposal related to the energy transition.
- Curiosity and commitment to make the most of this learning experience.
Selection Criteria
- Once selected, scholarship recipients must commit to the following:
- Active participation: Attend 6 group learning sessions led by their team and energy transition experts throughout the three months of the program. These sessions are designed to enrich your knowledge and skills in climate journalism.
- Publish three reports in national or regional media. You will have the opportunity to publish your reports on the Climate Tracker Latin America website, and they will also disseminate them through their Environmental Media Network, thus expanding their visibility and reach.
- Newsletter contribution: Producing a first-person adaptation of your story for the weekly newsletter Click Climático. This will allow you to experiment with common web formats and connect with an interested audience.
- TikTok Video: Create a TikTok video with the support of their content creators. This activity aims to portray each of your stories in a creative and novel way, ensuring that they reach a wider audience.
