The independent media Agenda Propria with its #RedTejiendoHistorias and the World Network of Environmental Journalists (EJN) designed this virtual course to help indigenous and non-indigenous journalists around the world understand journalism from the perspective of indigenous peoples and to produce better reports.
Content
- The course begins with reflections on journalistic work, the way indigenous peoples are represented and special emphasis is placed on the work of the media and indigenous journalists and communicators.
- In addition, participants can learn about the human and territorial rights of indigenous peoples, have access to a wide repository of resources, and receive recommendations to develop reports or stories with a focus on the rights of Mother Earth and the territory, fundamental for the physical and cultural survival of indigenous peoples, and the protection of biodiversity.
- The course ends with the development of the “Intercultural Collaborative Journalism” methodology, a tool designed by the independent media Agenda Propria to produce stories with intercultural teams.
- Guides for designing stories, topic proposals for journalistic coverage, different multimedia materials and inspiring reports are also shared to develop various productions.
- At the end of the three modules there is a course evaluation and a certificate will be awarded for those who successfully complete it.
