Film Fund Shorts – Fiction and Documentary Fund

This arrangement focuses on cinematographic exploration, in which the novice or experienced director searches for (the renewal of) his own signature through an original, urgent and authentic short film. The short documentary or fiction film production lasts a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 60 minutes, has international ambition and potential for festival rotation.

Funding Information

• Maximum €65,000 per project.
• In addition, a maximum of € 2,500 for a production coach in the case of a starting producer.

Who is eligible?

• They are looking for idiosyncratic short films from directors who:
  • have graduated from a recognized HBO vocational training course for film; or
  • without vocational training for film (self-taught) are demonstrably active as a professional director and have directed one or more independent film productions or (parts of) drama series that have been released in the Netherlands (cinema release or on television) or have been selected for an (inter) national film festival or a curated streaming service.
• Both novice and experienced directors apply with a producer.
• The main applicant is a producer who has completed a recognized vocational training for film or has realized and released at least one independent film production within the relevant category in the professional film and television sector.
• The Fund expressly invites novice producers to apply. Beginning producers can involve a production coach when awarded and request an additional contribution for this.
• The manufacturer must be established in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a member state of the EU, EEA or Switzerland. In addition, the producer must be registered with the Chamber of Commerce, but does not have to be a legal entity (so a general partnership or sole proprietorship is also permitted). A maximum of two projects can be submitted per producer and affiliated companies/entities per application round.
• Persons who are still following vocational training cannot submit an application. The producer and the director cannot be the same person.
