The Department of Cultural Affairs of Mayotte, in consultation with the Rectorate of Mayotte, is launching a call for applications for journalists, with a view to a residency-mission for media education, information and freedom of expression.
Convinced of the relevance of this proposal for the public and educational stakeholders in its territory, the DAC Mayotte wishes to develop its commitment to media education for the year 2024 by inviting a professional journalist while respecting its independence.
Objectives
The main objectives of the residence are:
- to bring together a network of professionals responsible for a diverse audience (from kindergarten to seniors, remote audiences, people with disabilities, prisoners, etc.) to carry out media education actions;
- to support a voluntary team of actors in teaching, education and culture (teachers, educational advisors, educators, facilitators, social action professionals, cultural professionals, library network, managers associations, etc.) in the production and coproduction of educational resources and tools in order to encourage a better perception of issues linked to information and freedom of expression within their structures;
- to introduce the profession of journalist and its current issues;
- to raise awareness of the issues of freedom of expression;
- to show and understand the information production process and to help decipher it;
- to encourage the development of a conscious and responsible practice of different media, social networks and the Internet in general.
Duration
- From March 11 to May 11, 2024
- This is a residence of 2 full months, consecutive or not, of which the 9 weeks of effective presence (i.e. a total of 45 days) are to be spread over the period of residence (or may be subject to an alternative distribution proposal).
Eligibility Criteria
- be a professional journalist,
- have the card issued by the Commission for the Identity Card of Journalists Professionals,
- be willing to support the different teams of professionals who are in charge or responsible for children, adolescents or young adults, during school/university time or after school/university time, in their collective dynamic in in favor of media education, information and freedom of expression.
