You can apply to the Film Fund for a subsidy for the production of a short animated film of up to 60 minutes.
In its substantive selection, the Fund gives priority to original scenarios and selects a high-quality, diverse and daring offering.
Funding Information
- The Fund determines the amount of the financial contribution based on the nature, size and complexity of the film plan and the team composition. In the decision-making process, the financial and business elaboration is taken into account, as well as the joint vision of the producer and director/creative team on budget and execution. The contribution is capped.
- Maximum €110,000 for a length of up to 15 minutes
- Maximum €165,000 for a length between 15 and 60 minutes
- The fund contribution amounts to a maximum of 85% of the production budget.
- It is possible to request an additional contribution of €5,000 for distribution.

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant is an independent production company (a legal entity, not a sole proprietorship or general partnership) that has been established for at least two years in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a member state of the EU, EEA or Switzerland and that produces and exploits films and other audiovisual productions on a continuous basis.
- Short animation with a length up to 10 minutes:
- The production company is represented by a producer who, as majority producer, has been primarily responsible for the realization and release of at least one free, non-commissioned film production (long or short) in the professional Dutch film and/or television sector. If the producer is making his debut in the animation category, there must be demonstrable animation expertise present within the creative team at the time of the application.
- The producer who represents the production company is not the same person as the director and/or screenwriter of the film.
- Short animation with a length of 10 minutes or more:
- The production company is represented by a producer who, as majority producer, has been primarily responsible for the realization and release of at least two free, non-commissioned animation film productions (long or short) in the professional Dutch film and/or television sector.
- The producer representing the production company is not the same person as the director and/or screenwriter of the film.
- Only when the intended fund contribution for realization is less than €50,000:
- A director who produces the film himself can also submit a production application independently. In the opinion of the board, the director must have demonstrable production experience in the field of animation. Previous productions that were created in the context of a training course, competition or self-education will not be taken into account.
- A producer who meets the entry requirements for development in this category can also independently submit a realisation application.
