Entries open for Josiah Media Festival

Film Categories 

• The Josiah Media Festival categories are Narrative, Documentary, Animation and Experimental. If the submitting filmmaker is unsure of the category in which to submit their film, the Josiah Media Festival Committee will assign it to the most suitable category. The Josiah Media Festival Committee reserves the right to reassign the category of any submitted film as they deem fit and/or necessary.

Funding Criteria

• Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third-place winners in each of the four film categories. Award certificates, laurels and letters will also be awarded to the winners in each of the four categories. Cash prizes will be sent primarily through PayPal, if available in your country.
• All local filmmakers must be in attendance at the Josiah Media Festival Awards Ceremony in order to receive their awards and prizes. Awards and prizes will not be mailed or delivered to local filmmakers. Local filmmakers understand that they forfeit their award and prize(s) if they are not in attendance at the awards ceremony.
• All winning-filmmakers outside of San Antonio, Texas will be asked to accept their awards and prizes via Zoom or to film a short acceptance video to be played during the ceremony. Awards and prizes will be sent out to non-local filmmakers following the award ceremony.
• The URBAN-15 Group reserves the right to withhold or retract any cash prizes awarded.

Who can submit? 

• The Josiah Media Festival is open to filmmakers around the world 21 years old or younger.
• Filmmakers must have been born on or after August 1st, 2003 or must have been 21 years old or younger at the time the submitted film was completed. All key crew members on the film – writer, director, editor and director of photography – must have also been 21 years old or younger at the time the submitted film was completed (this does not include any actors in the film).

Requirements 

• Films must be submitted as High-Definition (720p minimum) .AVI, .MOV, .MPG, or .MP4 video files that are downloadable through a supplied link (via YouTube, Vimeo, Hightail, Dropbox, Googledrive, etc.). Playable-DVDs will not be accepted.
• All films must be in English or include embedded English subtitles in the film.
• All submitted files must be less than 2 gigabytes in size; please compress all files larger than 2 GB.
• All submitted files must be PC-compatible; do not use Mac-proprietary codecs or file formats.
• All music and other copyright material must be used with permission of the copyright holders.
