Jeduca Association of Education Journalists in partnership with Fundacio Itau, invites submissions for Education Journalism Initiative to encourage the production of journalistic material and quality work on relevant topics in Brazilian public education.
The edition is an initiative of Jeduca (Associação de Jornalistas de Educação) and Fundação Itaú. A Jeduca is an association created by day laborers who charge education to support other professionals and students of day labor and communication who work as a subject, either routinely or sporadically. The Itaú Foundation, created in 2019, develops programs in the fields of art, culture and education through three educational fronts: Itaú Cultural, Itaú Educação e Trabalho and Itaú Social.
The editorial has the objective of promoting the production of quality journal material on relevant topics in Brazilian public education.
Categories
- In the Journalist Category, 8 (or one) bags will be offered for the production of a report or a series of reports on topics relevant to Brazilian public education.
- In the Student Category, the three best TCCs (Course Completion Works) of educational workdays will be awarded. Category that will only have open registrations at the end of 2024.
Why?
- Reports and work before construction can be done by paying attention to Public opinion on fundamental issues for the best public education in the country. Além disso, these materials can become a reference and standard of quality to be sought by other day laborers. Funding Information
- In the Journalist Category, the selected professional will receive a prize of R$ 10,000.00 (ten thousand) as a commitment to publish the report or the series of reports by December 15, 2024. They will receive as an additional R$ 7,000 (seven thousand), corresponding to 70% of the total value of the bag, but, no maximum, seven days after the disclosure of the results of the selection. Payment of the remaining balance will be made after final publication of the material.
- Professionals whose previously established guidelines may indicate extra publishing costs, such as travel and hiring of photographers, are necessary, with a maximum value of R$ 2,000.00.
Who can participate?
- Professionals who have been working in the profession for at least two years can register, submitting an agenda proposal with a research guide and a letter of approval from the publisher of the vehicle that signals their interest in the publication. The rule is valid for journalists whether or not they have ties to media outlets.
- Journalists who were included in the last edition of the Notice, that is, the 5th edition, cannot apply.
- The evaluation criteria will take into account the issues identified as priorities, originality, quality, format, relevance of the topic and the importance of the financial resources offered for the report to be carried out.
- The report or series produced may be published in print media, portals, websites, radio or TV stations or podcast platforms. Nominations for blogs or personal, non-journalistic publications will not be accepted.
- The selection is made by the Notice’s Judging and Editorial Committee, made up of experienced journalists, coordinated by journalist Denise Chiarato. The committee monitors the production of agendas, always respecting the independence of the professionals and media outlets involved.
