The Ministry of Culture organizes its third Photographic “Research and Creation Residency” Program.
Objectives
- The organizers wish to offer a photographer-author (e) a workspace, a time of research and creation adapted to the development of his personal projects and the opportunity to explore a new territory. The artist will define the angle of his gaze in complete freedom, without imposed thematic.
- In agreement with the selected artist and in forms compatible with his approach, the residence will be able to create opportunities for diversified encounters with the Manceaux public.
Benefits
- The artist will receive a remuneration of 2500 € TTC. Copyright and social contributions are included in this amount.
- He/she will also receive a sum of 500 € as food expenses.
- His travel expenses/Le Mans will be covered on proof, up to 600 €. A subscription to the Metropole’s public transport network will be available.
- He/she will benefit from independent accommodation in Le Mans, close to all amenities.
- The association will contribute to the production costs of the work created as part of this residency, up to a maximum of €4,000.
Dates and Duration
- The residency will take place between January 15 and July 15, 2024, over a period of 5 weeks, flexible according to the artist’s project.
Expected production
- The artist undertakes to produce an original photographic work that can be exhibited during the 4th quarter 2024. He/she may also be invited to present to the public, in forms to be determined with him/her, one or more stages of the work in progress, in particular during the festival Les Photographiques which will be held from March 16 to April 7, 2024.
- The form of restitution of the final production as well as possible arrangements for meetings with the public during the residency will be the subject of a prior contractual agreement between the organizers and the artist. Being the subject of an agreement between the artist and the management of the Association, the restitution must adapt to the constraints of the budget allocated to the production.
- At all stages of the residency and in agreement with the artist, extracts of the work produced may be used by the association and given to the media to ensure communication relating to the project.
- The invited artist will participate in the preparation of a final report at the end of their residency.
- Mediation actions and/or educational actions may possibly be offered to the artist, subject to specific remuneration and contractual arrangements.
Eligibility
- This program is open to any professional artist (the), French or foreign, residing in France, with a SIRET number (artists-author (s) and who can charge for services.
